An "old hand grenade" exploded at a popular beach in Co Down on Saturday afternoon, the PSNI has confirmed.
A controlled explosion was carried out as Ammunition Technical Officers, alongside police, attended following a report from a member of the public.
A spokesperson for the PSNI in the Ards and North Down policing district said there is "no further risk to the public" following the incident.

In a statement, published on the PSNI 's Ards and North Down Facebook page, a spokesperson said: "This afternoon there was significant police presence in Cloughey beach following a report received from a member of the public who believed they had came across a suspect device.
"Police attended along with our ATO colleagues who confirmed the device was an old hand grenade. We are pleased to confirm that a controlled explosion was carried out on the device and there is no further risk to the public."
The spokesperson added: "We would like to thank the member of the public who contacted us as well as members of the public for their patience while we brought this matter to a safe conclusion."
