Hyundai Steel Korea's second-biggest steelmaker by sales, said Tuesday it will end the suspension of its cold-rolled steel plant this week and resume wage talks with its labor union.
Hyundai Steel plans to reopen its pickling line/tandem cold mill (PL/TCM) facility at Dangjin integrated steel mill at 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a company spokesperson.
The facility is a key part of the integrated steel mill in Dangjin, some 80 kilometers southwest of Seoul, and its operations have been suspended since Feb. 24 amid a prolonged walkout by unionized workers over wage hikes.
The company's union members are expected to halt their collective action at 7 a.m. Thursday and resume their stalled wage negotiations the following day, according to the company spokesperson. (Yonhap)
