Radio favourite Jordan North shared his starstruck moment with a pop legend during a recent chat. The ex-I'm A Celeb star joined Thursday's edition of This Morning, chatting with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
Jordan was on the show with his Capital colleagues Chris Stark and Sian Welby to discuss the Jingle Bell Ball, which took place in early December and is set to be broadcast on ITV this weekend.
During the conversation about the star-studded concert featuring acts like Becky Hill, Katy Perry and Tom Grennan, Jordan admitted being utterly awestruck by one particular encounter.
Cat probed: "You got a little bit starstruck at one stage, didn't you, Jordan?" To which he confirmed: "Yeah with Chris Martin from Coldplay."
Exploring why Chris Martin had such an impact, Jordan explained that he's been a long-time Coldplay fan but had never interviewed Martin until now. He confessed: "I've been on the radio for years, but I've never actually interviewed him. I interviewed him for the first time, and it wasn't great."
As Cat laughed, she pressed for details on why Jordan felt the interview hadn't gone smoothly. Jordan elaborated: "He's (Chris Martin) not the easiest person to interview."
He clarified: "Not in a malicious way! He's very shy, and he doesn't really like doing many interviews. At the end, I thought, 'That's going to need a really good edit!'"
His co-star interjected with a quip, suggesting they wouldn't be pointing fingers at the interviewer, to which Jordan chimed in: "No, a bad tradesman never blames his tools or a good one."
Post-interview, Jordan was unexpectedly complimented by the Coldplay frontman. Recounting the moment, he said: "At the end, he went, 'That was a really good interview.'".
Jordan conveyed to the This Morning team that prior to their conversation, Chris had confessed not being the greatest at interviews and then handed over a small token of appreciation. Jordan proudly displayed the badge Chris had taken off his own shirt and given him, reports the Express.
Cat expressed her delight: "It's like getting the Blue Peter badge from Chris Martin. Approved." Meanwhile, it emerged that Jordan wasn't the only one on set with an awkward celebrity tale to share.
Sian brought up their colleague Chris's notably cringe-worthy experience as among the most famous of them all. The This Morning audience saw footage from the time Chris interviewed actress Mila Kunis during the promotion of her movie The Great and Powerful Oz in 2013.
A young Chris is seen in the throwback video inquiring whether Mila found playing an unsightly character in the movie to be an unusual experience, straightforwardly telling her: "Genuinely, you're hot. So is being a witch a bit different?"
Upon returning to current studio time, laughter ensued amongst them as Cat remarked: "You know what's brilliant about it? Is if Richard Curtis wrote a screenplay and it was bumbling presenter, that would be it!"
Ben described the incident as a pivotal experience, being one of his initial forays into interviewing. Chris responded: "I'm convinced that actually doing that and what it taught me was it is ok to be yourself and yes, I'm bumbling my way through that, but it was something a little bit different."
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
