Iceland has announced a new age limit rule that will benefit people aged 60 and over. The frozen food specialist is introducing a change at the checkouts for over-60s by offering them a 10% discount on their groceries, confirmed as a significant boost for older shoppers.
Iceland's over 60s discount scheme provides those aged 60 and above the chance to get 10% off their shop every Tuesday, with no minimum spend required, at both Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores. To redeem the discount, eligible customers need only present a valid form of ID, such as a Senior Bus pass, Driver's Licence, Senior Railcard, or Freedom Pass.
Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland, commented on the initiative: "We are so pleased with how well the over 60s discount has been received by the public and love hearing stories from customers who are benefiting from the discount."

He added: "The cost of living crisis continues to cause distress in the everyday lives of these customers and that's why we want to keep doing what we can to support them."
On its launch day in May 2022, the discount was used by over a third of shoppers entering Iceland or The Food Warehouse, with over 150,000 eligible customers taking advantage of the offer, reports Birmingham Live.
Iceland is showing appreciation for emergency services customers and Blue Light Card holders by offering them a special online discount "as a thank you" for their service. Eligible shoppers can enjoy £3 off when they spend £60 or more.
To claim this offer, customers need to log into their Blue Light Card account, retrieve their unique code, and then apply it at the checkout on Iceland's website. Additionally, Iceland provides a one-off discount for students via Student Beans, where eligible customers can get £6 off when they spend a minimum of £45.
