Iran is discussing a proposal to impose fees on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian-affiliated ISNA news agency.
The proposal is currently under review in the Iranian parliament. If approved, ships traveling through the strategic waterway would be required to pay fees and relevant taxes to Iran.
ISNA reported that the move is being considered as part of efforts to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz and to strengthen Iran’s national security measures.
Iranian parliamentarian Somayeh Rafiei stated that Iran’s adversaries have lost privileges they previously enjoyed and will now have to face the new reality.
“God willing, this struggle will end with a decisive and definite victory for Iran. After that, we will continue to challenge our enemies passing through the Strait of Hormuz,” she added.
