BLACKFOOT — A wreck on State Highway 39 near Highland High School left a juvenile dead and a man hospitalized Saturday evening.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 93 and 900 West, according to Lt. Gary Yancey of the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. He says a man was driving a GMC pickup truck south on 900 West with a juvenile male passenger. The driver allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit another pickup truck, which was driving east on the highway.

“The two occupants of the GMC were ejected,” Yancy told EastIdahoNews.com. Both were taken to a local hospital, where the juvenile died.

The driver of the other truck had minor injuries, Yancey said, and was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

No further information about the victims or situation has been released.

The crash is being investigated by the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. Yancy said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
