Line of Duty might make a comeback for a seventh series. The acclaimed BBC police procedural drama concluded in 2021 after a successful six-year run, but sources now suggest a revival could be on the cards.
Insiders have revealed that key cast members Vicky McClure, Martin Compston, and Adrian Dunbar—who portrayed Detective Kate Fleming, DS Steve Arnott, and Supt Ted Hastings—have been in talks with series creator Jed Mercurio about a potential return.
An insider shared with The Sun: "Jed is close with Vicky, Martin and Adrian, and they often meet for dinner – this time it was different. " They added: "A topic of conversation was how they could align their schedules in 2025 to ensure ‘Line of Duty’ seven happens."

The source also mentioned: "The ambition is filming could start next year, with it on screens by early 2026."
Since the show's end, the trio has been in high demand. Compston has taken a role in Amazon Prime's thriller 'The Rig', while Co Fermanagh star Dunbar led another crime drama, ITV's 'Ridley'. McClure starred as Lana Washington, a police bomb disposal expert, in ITV’s 'Trigger Point'.
Discussing her experience collaborating with Mercurio, the man behind popular BBC series such as 'Bodyguard', during a BBC interview, the actress shared: "I just found it really helpful having him around. " She expressed utmost confidence in the material, stating, "The scripts were so strong, there was never really any need, for instance, to challenge them."
Regarding any confusion about plot elements, she clarified, "There were no sorts of gaps in a way when you thought: ‘Well, I’m a bit confused, why is that happening? ’ It was more a case that he could give you a little bit more insight to his vision and how you get there – and just pick you up on certain things. "
