POCATELLO — A man who pleaded guilty to aggravated battery for a May attack that left another man hurt has been sentenced to felony probation.
Ansley Austin Godoy, 36, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated battery after reaching a plea agreement, court records show. In exchange, additional charges of robbery, grand theft and fraudulent possession of a stolen bank card were dismissed.
At an Oct. 30 hearing, District Judge Rick Carnaroli suspended a prison term of five to 10 years, choosing instead to sentence Godoy to six years of felony probation.

Godoy was arrested in May after a mugging outside the Marshall Public Library.
The victim told police that he was walking out of the library when two men approached him and demanded his money. He denied the men’s request and tried to go back inside the library, but was cornered by the men. Godoy, the victim said, punched him on the left side of his face. He fell to the ground and the men ran away.
The victim was later diagnosed with a fractured jaw.
In addition to probation, Godoy was ordered to complete a treatment program and pay $1,195.50 in fees and fines.
