Man, 20s, dies following single-vehicle collision in Lisburn

A man in his 20s has sadly died following a single-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, the PSNI has confirmed.

The collision happened in the Carryduff Road area of Temple, Lisburn and was reported to police at around 7.10pm.

Sadly, the passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead. The driver, a man also aged in his 20s, sustained injuries the PSNI say are "not believed to be life threatening".

The road was closed overnight after emergency services rushed to the scene but reopened to traffic on Sunday morning.

A police spokesperson said: "The Police Service of Northern Ireland can sadly confirm a man has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Saturday evening, 14th December."

Roads Inspector Cherith Adair, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Police received a report at approximately 7.10pm of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa in the Carryduff Road area of Temple, Lisburn. Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Sadly, the passenger in the vehicle, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The driver of the vehicle, a man also aged in his 20s, sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening."

The officer continued: “The Carryduff Road which was closed overnight to allow for further enquiries has since reopened to traffic this morning, Sunday 15th December. We are investigating the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries.”

Appealing for information, a police spokesperson added: "Please call on 101, quoting reference number 1350 14/12/24, or submit information online at http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/"
