23-year-old from Pennsylvania died at hospital

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A Pennsylvania man was killed in Melbourne on Christmas after he was hit while crossing a road and the driver took off, according to police.

Investigators said they were called to the area of South Harbor City Boulevard and Strawbridge Avenue around 12:18 a.m.

Officers said they found Andrew Ryan Sofranko, 23, had been hit. The man was rushed to the hospital where he ultimately died.

Investigators said Sofranko was hit by an unknown vehicle and the driver did not stay on scene.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Melbourne police at 321-616-5033.
