Shooting happened in the 2200 block of SW 19th Avenue Road
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man is in serious condition after being shot by Marion County deputies after he pointed a gun at them on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release.
Deputies said they responded around 12:17 p.m. to the 2200 block of SW 19th Avenue Road in reference to “a disturbance where an adult male was firing a gun both inside and outside of his home.”
According to the release, more shots were heard when deputies arrived.

Deputies said a long standoff ensued, but at one point, the man exited the home and fired more rounds into the air.
The man pointed his gun at deputies who then shot him, according to the release.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will handle the investigation.
