Four masked men claiming to represent a paramilitary organisation have left a woman and three children in distress after a burglary incident on Saturday.

Police say the men entered a home in the Fortfield Manor area of Greenisland, ordered the woman and three kids into a room, and then left with jewellery and cash.

It happened at around 8pm last night, a PSNI statement has said.

A police spokesperson added: "Detectives are appealing for information following the report of a burglary at a house in Fortfield Manor, Greenisland, on Saturday 2nd November.

"At around 8pm, four masked men, all dressed in dark clothing, entered the house through the back door and ordered the occupants, a woman and three children, into the living room. The males, who claimed to represent a paramilitary organisation, then proceeded to search the house for approximately 30 minutes taking with them a quantity of jewellery and a sum of cash when they left.

"Thankfully, the victims were physically uninjured, but were understandably left extremely distressed by the incident."

The detective added: "An investigation is underway and I would ask anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have relevant doorbell or CCTV footage, to contact detectives in Larne on 101, quoting reference number 1671 02/11/24."

A spokesperson for the PSNI added: "A report can be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org."
