A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash on Adeline Street in South Berkeley early Friday morning, police said.

Officer Byron White wrote in an email that the rider was traveling south just before 12:30 a.m. on the 2900 block of Adeline Street, between Russell Street and Ashby Avenue, when he hit the curb and fell from his Vespa motorcycle.

The rider, identified only as a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, White said.

The crash was first reported by the Berkeley Scanner.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, according to police, and the man was alone on the motorcycle. Police are continuing to investigate the crash, White said.
