TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Have you noticed a chirping sound coming from your phone lately while scrolling on the Facebook app?
According to Dataconomy, the sound, which occurs during scrolling, is part of a new update to make the mobile experience “more engaging and interactive.”
It’s not a particularly obtrusive feature of the app, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea to hear a chirping sound while trying to check up on friends and family.
If you are one of those people, you can easily turn it off. Just follow these steps:Click on the bottom right icon of your app, which should open your menu. Scroll down to Settings under Settings and Privacy. Under Preferences, click on Media and tap Sounds. Then click the toggle to off In-App Sounds. This should not affect video sound.
If all else fails, put your phone on silent. That should work, too.
Nexstar reached out to Facebook for more information about the noise but did not hear back as of this writing.
