The much-anticipated Disney+ drama set against the backdrop of The Troubles will be released this week. Adapted from Patrick Radden Keefe's acclaimed New York Times Best Selling Book Say Nothing, the series focuses on murder and life across four decades in Northern Ireland.

The series focuses on the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten from Belfast who was abducted from her home in 1972 and murdered by the IRA.

Jean's remains were only discovered on Louth beach in 2003 after an extensive search. Say Nothing lays bare the lives entangled within the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the extremes that some people will go to in the name of their beliefs in a divided country.

Featuring a cast that includes seasoned television names as well as emerging talent portraying real-life personalities, this is everything you need to know about the new drama on Disney+ including cast, plot, trailer and when the new series is released.

A plot summary from Disney reads: "Spanning four decades, the series opens with the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972 and never seen alive again.

"Telling the story of various Irish Republican Army (IRA) members, Say Nothing explores the extremes some people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can suddenly tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence for all affected, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence.

"The series stars Lola Petticrew as Dolours Price and Hazel Doupe as Marian Price, young women who became potent symbols of radical politics.

"Anthony Boyle stars as Brendan Hughes, a charismatic but conflicted military strategist, and Josh Finan as Gerry Adams, a leading political operator who would go on to negotiate peace and has always denied having any involvement with the IRA. Maxine Peake stars as older Dolours Price."

Say Nothing is executive produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, creator Joshua Zetumer, Patrick Radden Keefe, Edward McDonnell, Monica Levinson and Northern Ireland native Michael Lennox. The series is produced by FX Productions.

Film crews were spotted on City Road In Walton on Wednesday, May 24

City Road in Liverpool's Walton area was transformed into a 70s West Belfast scene, complete with vintage cars, a working men's club and an old-fashioned telephone box.

During the filming in May 2023, the Liverpool Echo captured images and reported that cars were burnt out, rubble littered the ground and bricks were stacked high. Houses on City Road were adorned with brightly coloured timber frames and buildings were converted into retro shops.

Filming for Say Nothing also took place in Belfast, Sheffield and at Shepton Mallet prison in Somerset. West Bexington beach in Dorset was another location used for filming in 2023.
