Police in Co Down have issued an appeal for information after a child's body was burned after being hit by a lit firework.
On Halloween night, October 31, the nine-year-old child was struck by a firework thrown into the area of Damolly Retail Park in Newry at around 6pm. The child was left with a burn mark on his torso, police said.
Police have issued an appeal for information. In particular, they have asked for anyone who was in the area at around 6pm and witnessed the incident to get in touch.

In a post on social media, Police Newry, Mourne & Down said: "Sadly another child has been injured this Halloween through the use of fireworks. Police in Newry are appealing for a witnesses to an assault on Halloween night, where an innocent 9-year-old child was struck by a lit firework thrown into the area of Damolly Retail Park causing a burn mark to his torso.
"If anyone was in the area of Damolly Retail Park on Thursday 31st October at around 6pm and witnessed this incident or has any information which can help with the investigation, please get in contact with Police on 101 quoting ref: 1318 31/10/24."
