Motherwell are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Stuart Kettlewell. The Fir Park club confirmed on Monday that Kettlewell had resigned, with the 44-year-old citing the personal abuse he had received following recent results.
Kettlewell had been in charge for two years, with Motherwell currently sitting fifth in the table after losing three games in a row, winning just one in nine.
Chief executive Brian Caldwell told his club website: "It's really sad that Stuart felt that the time was right to move on. He had an exceptional record and has generated an impressive amount of transfer income for the club.
"He has been a critical factor in the development of Motherwell academy graduates, as well as developing young loan players during his tenure. When Stuart approached me, I was very disappointed to learn the effect this was having on his family and how he was feeling. No manager, player, or club employee, every one of whom gives their all for the club, should feel this way."
Fans are now looking to the future, and who will take over from Kettlewell in the dugout. And one of the frontrunners is Northern Ireland man Neil Lennon.
The former Celtic boss is currently out of work after leaving Rapid Bucharest last year. He has previously managed clubs including Bolton Wanderers, Hibernian and Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.
Gambling.com have Lennon as 7/5 second favourite behind Falkirk boss John McGlynn (6/5). Other leading candidates include David Martindale (Livingston), Scott Brown (Ayr United) and Steven Naismith who has been out of work since leaving Hearts at the start of the season.
