The PSNI has hit out at youths "terrorising" a local community, as they appealed for witnesses to incidents over the weekend.
In a statement issued by officers in Magheralin, they shared a photo of a piece of concrete that was thrown at the window of a pensioner's home. The concrete smashed through the window, landing on the bed of a 90-year-old woman.
"Imagine your 90-year-old granny is home alone," a spokesperson for the PSNI said.
"A large gathering of youths are terrorising your local community. And one decides to throw this (pictured) lump of concrete through her window, breaking both panes of glass, landing on the bed along with a large amount of shattered glass.
"This was sadly just one incident of many that occurred in Magheralin on Saturday night. We are urging not only the public, but even the people involved to realise how shocking these actions are. There is no place for Anti Social Behaviour anywhere.
"The fear the elderly residents are experiencing as a result of these criminal actions is so upsetting to see."
UUP MLA Robbie Butler said he was made aware of the incident and that there must be "no repeat".
"My office was updated earlier in relation to this attack and the ASB," he said.
"Twenty youths involved. One window smashed, a number of youths drunk. One arrested. Other parents been contacted by police to make them aware of what’s been going on.
"There must be no repeat of this and we must assist the police if and in any way we can. My team and I will be liaising with the NPT this week."
In a further statement, police say they are investigating reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the Magheralin area.
Sergeant Murray added: "It was reported a number of young people on Saturday evening, 11th January had damaged doors of properties throughout the village by kicking them. Staff in a shop in the area also had to put its shutters down as the young people had been banging and kicking the doors.
"Officers attended and observed three young people matching the description given of those involved. Two of the three boys made off from police. The third boy was detained and became verbally aggressive and obstructive towards officers.
"The 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour and other related offences after he assaulted two officers while being transported to custody. He was later released on police bail to allow for further enquiries into the investigation.
"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or who has dash-cam or other video footage of the area to contact us on the non-emergency number 101 and quote reference number 1093 11/01/25.
"A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
