POCATELLO — A man who police say sprayed Raid in several people’s faces has been charged with multiple felony charges.

Scott A. Hoyt, 46, faces two felony counts of aggravated battery, court records show.

Pocatello police officers received a call reporting a disturbance at a residence on the 3600 block of Vaughn Avenue around 10 p.m. on Nov. 24, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim, who said Hoyt sprayed several people at the residence with Raid. The affidavit says several people got bug spray in their faces.

The female victim also told officers she believed Hoyt had broken her pinky. The officers noted in police reports that the finger was red and swollen.

Others at the residence at the time of the disturbance told officers Hoyt had spit in their faces. They described Hoyt as being “aggressive.”

Officers tried to question Hoyt but were unsuccessful. According to the affidavit, “(Hoyt) was not making any sense in what he was telling me.”

Hoyt was arrested and taken to Bannock County Jail, where he was booked and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Though Hoyt has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

If he is found guilty, Hoyt would face up to 30 years in prison.

He is scheduled to appear in court before Magistrate Judge David Hooste on Dec. 20.
