Police said Monday they requested former floor leader of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) to appear for questioning later this week, as part of their probe into President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived martial law imposition.

Rep. Choo Kyung-ho was ordered to appear for questioning Thursday, after he rejected a previous summons.

Choo, who was floor leader of the PPP on the Dec. 3 martial law imposition, is accused of allegedly asking National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik to postpone the vote to demand the lifting of martial law.

Choo, who stepped down from the post Dec. 7, is also suspected of trying to prevent some PPP lawmakers from joining the vote to demand the lifting of martial law. (Yonhap)
