Shooting occurred in motel parking lot
DAVENPORT, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd will hold a news conference on Wednesday to discuss a fatal shooting that occurred overnight outside a motel near Davenport, as well as an arrest in the case.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that detectives were investigating the death of a Davenport man who was shot in the parking lot of the Tropicana Resort Motel, located at 43420 U.S. Highway 27.
The shooting happened just before midnight Tuesday, and the man’s next of kin had not been notified at the time of this report, the sheriff’s office said.
The release mentions the arrest of Robert Rafael Cruceta Pimentel, a 31-year-old Davenport man accused of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, providing false information to law enforcement, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, maintaining a vehicle for drug sales, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and varied drugs charges.
