The chance to be a multimillionaire is up for grabs as a whopping $50million will be offered in the Powerball on Thursday night.

The huge prize is the sixth biggest jackpot by any Australian lottery game this year.

If just one person snared division one in Thursday's draw, The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said they would be among the year's biggest lottery winners.

'Australia's biggest lottery winner of 2022 to date is a Coffs Harbour man who wanted to park a new red sports car in the garage of a new house after we confirmed he'd won more than $63.3 million in a February Powerball draw,' he said.

'Interestingly, there have already been more Powerball division one wins so far in 2022 than there were during each of the past three years.

'New South Wales players have enjoyed a stellar 2022, scoring more than half of the Powerball division one wins to date. We've also seen four wins land in Victoria, two in Western Australia and one each in Queensland and South Australia.'

The last time the Powerball jackpot was won was on 24 November 2022, when a player from Forster in New South Wales pocketed a $50 million prize.

'My best advice for anyone wanting the chance to win Powerball this week is to ensure you have an entry in your hands before the draw's close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night,' Mr Hart said.

'As this is the biggest offer of any Australian lottery game at the moment, we're expecting it to be busy in-store and online leading up to Thursday night's draw.

'Make sure you register your entry to a player card or online account so we can call you with the life-changing news straight after the draw should you win division one!'

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app
