The Public Procurement Service (PPS) is promoting e-procurement and modernized public procurement infrastructure at the conference of the Asia Pacific Public Electronic Procurement Network in Manila, Philippines, from Wednesday to Thursday, the procurement agency said.
Established in 2015, the network comprises 40 member countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The effort by the network has significantly increased e-procurement adoption, from 12 countries in 2013 to 33 in 2022.
This year’s conference reflects rapid advancements in technology, such as artificial intelligence, and centers on advancing e-procurement as well as sustainable procurement through digital transformation.
PPS Administrator Lim Ki-keun delivered a keynote speech, introducing the strategic use of e-procurement. PPS has been inviting officials in the region to Korea so that they can experience e-procurement.
“PPS will remain committed to promoting fairness, transparency and efficiency in public procurement throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Building on this foundation, we aim to create best practices for the strategic use of public procurement on a global scale by deepening international cooperation,” Lim said.
