Rep. Barbara Ehardt wins in race against Miranda Marquit for District 33 Seat A

IDAHO FALLS — Republican incumbent Barbara Ehardt won against Democrat Miranda Marquit in the race for District 33 House Seat A in the general election.

Ehardt won with 12,148 votes, while Marquit received 7,116 votes. 

The seat is a two-year term. District 33 encompasses the “doughnut hole” of Idaho Falls between Anderson, Skyline and portions of Sunnyside roads.

Ehardt was first elected in 2017. EastIdahoNews.com reached out to her for comment, but we have not heard back yet. If we do, we will update this article. 

Marquit has challenged Ehardt for the last several elections and provided a statement. 

“I congratulate Representative Ehardt on getting her folks to turn out. Once again, I understand it is a very tall order in District 33 and in Idaho in general, but I have always believed that it is very important to let people know that you are fighting for them,” Marquit said to EastIdahoNews.com. “Regardless of how this turns out, I am still active in our community. I still serve on nonprofit boards and I am still here to fight for the folks who feel like they don’t have a voice.”
