Residents displaced, cat missing after mobile home fire in Bonneville County

IDAHO FALLS — Local residents were displaced from a home late Thursday night after a house fire. A cat from the home is also missing.

The structure fire happened on the 400 block of North Lakewood Avenue in Bonneville County just before 9:40 p.m.

The reporting party told 911 there were flames in the living room and coming out of the windows, according to a news release.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire.

Firefighters arrived six minutes after being dispatched and reported a small single-family mobile home with an active fire inside.

There was one man and one woman inside the home at the time of the fire and both of them evacuated safely without injury, according to the news release.

There was one cat inside the home at the time of the fire, which has not been found.

The fire was extinguished before 10 p.m.

Most of the fire damage was contained in the living room, with smoke damage throughout the home. The residents were displaced by the fire but were able to find temporary shelter with family members, the release said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
