Rosie O'Donnell to break silence on move to Ireland in exclusive RTE Late Late Show interview

American comic Rosie O'Donnell has been confirmed as a guest on this Friday's Late Late Show.

In her first exclusive Irish TV interview since moving to Ireland, the comedian and actress will join host Patrick Kielty for a chat about moving to Ireland since Donald Trump was elected President of the United States.

She will give her reaction to the move being raised during the Taoiseach's visit to the White House and why she wants people to join her next month in the Same Chance Walk for Autism with AsIAm, the Irish Mirror reports.

Earlier this month, Rosie previously revealed that she and her youngest child Clay, 12, had made the move across the pond almost two months ago following Donald Trump's victory in the US election.

Speaking in a video posted to TikTok, the 62-year-old said: "Well, hey everybody it's me, Rosie O'Donnell. Star of 'The Flintstones'. It's Tuesday all day, as my nanna would say. And I'm here in Ireland. It's beautiful and warm. Not physically, it's actually quite cold. We moved here on January 15 and it's been pretty wonderful, I have to say.

"The people are so loving, so kind and so welcoming and I'm very grateful. In the process of getting my Irish citizenship as I have Irish grandparents, and that's what's going on, that's what I've been doing. And although I was never someone who thought I'd move to another country, that's what I thought would be best for myself and my 12-year-old child. Here we are, here we are."

The 'Harriet the Spy' star - who is also the adoptive mother of Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake , 25, and 22-year-old Vivienne - is "happy" with her new home even though she "misses" her other children but will only ever think about returning to the US when she thinks it is "safe" to do so.

She said: "You know, I'm happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I'm trying to find a home here in this beautiful country and when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that's when we will consider coming back.

"It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know," she added.

Also on The Late Late Show will be singer Daniel O'Donnell who is back on tour in Ireland this year. He joins Patrick to talk trips with family, touring and the lengths he has gone to for his fans in a chart-topping career that has spanned four decades.

Comedian and actress Roisin Conaty known for Game Face and After Life will be also be in studio. Roisin will also be chatting about the new series LOL: Last One Laughing UK with Jimmy Carr and why she was so glad that she didn't have to even try keep a straight face amongst some of the funniest people in comedy.
