The Vatican has finallay given giving its two cents on the controversy surrounding the apparent recreation of Jesus' Last Supper in a section of the Paris Olympic opening ceremony.
The performance in question featured drag artists, a transgender model, and other performers gathered around a long table, recreating Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous painting “The Last Supper.”
The ironic portrayal of the moment in which Jesus reveals his betrayal by Judas Iscariot prompted a torrent of right-wing and ecclesiastical outrage, including from former President Donald Trump—but the Vatican remained curiously silent.
