The Korea Electronics Association (KEA) reappointed Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, as its chair for another three-year term, the organization said Monday. It made the decision during its 49th regular general meeting held last week.
Founded in 1976 to promote the electronic information and communication industry, KEA has been consistently led by a Samsung Electronics vice chairman since 2004. Han, who has served as chairman since 2021, will continue to steer the organization amid mounting economic uncertainties and shifting global trade policies.
Han said KEA aims to take a leading role in ensuring the sustained growth of Korea’s electronics and information technology industries, particularly as the sector faces challenges from rapid changes in global trade and supply chain structures. He emphasized the need for proactive strategies to respond to the ongoing reorganization of global supply chains driven by U.S.-led protectionist policies.
He also highlighted the importance of preparing the electronics industry for the seamless integration of artificial intelligence technologies while reinforcing cooperation between the government and private sector. KEA will serve as a bridge between industry and policymakers to navigate these challenges effectively, he said.
At Samsung Electronics, Han oversees the company's Device eXperience Division. Born March 15, 1962, he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Inha University in 1988.
Han's career at Samsung Electronics spans more than three decades, beginning in 1988 as a member of the Development Team in the Video Division. His expertise in visual display technologies led to his appointment as head of the Visual Display Business in 2017, where he played a pivotal role in advancing Samsung's television products, including QLED and MicroLED technologies.
