Shankill Road assault sees child 'struck in face without warning' by stranger

A 12-year-old boy was "struck in the face without warning" by a stranger during an attack in Belfast.

The boy was standing with friends in the Shankill Road area on Monday, November 11 at around 8.30pm when he was "approached by an unknown man who struck him to the side of his face without warning". Serious injuries were not reported.

Police said the suspect then left on foot in the direction of Woodvale, and enquiries are ongoing to determine who was involved and a motive.

In an appeal for information, a spokesperson for the PSNI added: "Anyone who noticed what happened or who has CCTV, mobile or other footage that could help with enquiries is asked to make contact with police on 101 quoting reference 1714 11/11/24.

"Alternatively you can provide information to us directly by submitting a report online via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/"
