Smoke detector alerts homeowner to fire in Seminole County

No injuries reported after house burns near Casselberry, firefighters say

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A house fire Friday night near Casselberry resulted in no injuries after the homeowner was alerted by a working smoke detector, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded around 11 p.m. to Fox Hollow Court, arriving to find flames through the home’s roof.

The fire was 40-50% involved before crews took it down, the department said on social media.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire. The department’s post states it began in the rear of the home.

Seminole County firefighters set out last month to install smoke detectors at a mobile home community in Winter Springs, coordinating with the American Red Cross to continue a smoke alarm campaign already credited with saving more than a thousand people across Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties from living in homes without the safety devices in working order.
