Social media buzz may predict election results earlier in tight races

With social media platforms serving as soapboxes for politicians, campaigns and voters alike, pollsters may be able to better predict election results by tracking the buzz around each candidate on social media, according to a new study published by a team of researchers from Penn State, Stanford University and the University of Florida.
