IDAHO FALLS — The Eastern Idaho Chorale is helping folks get into the Christmas spirit with concerts on Saturday and Sunday. Titled “The Spirit of the Season: Christmas at the Movies,” the performances will feature songs from favorite Christmas movies and plays.
“This weekend’s concert is all about … songs that have been featured in Christmas movies,” Corbin Rasmussen, the chorale’s director, tells EastIdahoNews.com. Expect some old classics and some new ones, as well.
Audiences can look forward to hearing songs from “The Polar Express,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and many more, Rasmussen says.
The Eastern Idaho Chorale is welcoming a special guest group this year, the Rigby High School Trojan Ringers Bell Choir. The bell choir will accompany the singers during one piece as well as play one of its own, according to Rasmussen.
“It will be a fun concert,” he says.
With about 70 members from around eastern Idaho, the chorale welcomes anyone who wants to sing. Anyone interested in singing with the group can find it practicing on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building south of Bonneville High School.
“It’s a super fun, eclectic group,” Rasmussen says. “Come as you are, and we’ll work with you and teach you how to sing.”
Saturday’s concert will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s concert will begin at 5 p.m., with light refreshments after Sunday’s concert. Both concerts will be at the First Presbyterian Church at 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls. Concerts usually last about an hour, and people of all ages are welcome. The concerts are free of charge; however, the nonprofit chorale accepts donations.
