Storm Darragh damages Mount Vernon UVF mural

1 month ago 193

A well known paramilitary mural in North Belfast has been damaged overnight.

The ‘Prepared For Peace Ready For War’ mural on the Mount Vernon estate appears to have suffered serious damage due to Storm Darragh.

The top section of the mural has collapsed rendering the message, synomymous with the UVF, unreadable. While trees and power lines have been the main victims of the ongoing high winds, a number of walls have collapsed and part of the M1 has been badly affected due “an insecure roof of a premises in the area”.

A wall close to Templepatrick was also damaged when a bus crashed into it in the early hours of the morning. Flights and ferry sailings have also been affected. Follow our Live updates here.
