Thai Ambassador to Korea Tanee Sangrat led a high-profile trade and investment mission to Thailand, aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and promoting mutual growth between the two nations. The mission, which took place from Dec. 15 to 19, culminated in a significant $500 million investment project in Rayong Province.
The delegation, comprised of top executives from leading Korean businesses, engaged in fruitful discussions with key Thai government officials, including Minister of Industry Akanat Promphan, Deputy Minister of Commerce Suchat Chomklin and Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Chutintorn Gongsakdi.
Discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment partnerships across various industrial and innovation sectors. Key Thai organizations, including the Board of Investment (BOI), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, provided briefings to the delegation.
The mission's itinerary included visits to industrial parks in Chonburi Province and the Laem Chabang Deep Sea Port, underscoring Thailand's strategic importance as a regional investment hub. These visits highlighted the potential for collaboration and the advantages of investing in Thailand's robust industrial infrastructure.
A highlight of the mission was the announcement by Enerth, a prominent Korean company, of a $500 million investment in the Smart Park Industrial Estate in Rayong Province. This investment aims to develop advanced industrial infrastructure, further cementing Thailand’s status as an attractive destination for foreign investments.
