One part of Northern Ireland had over 20% of recorded motoring offences last year according to a PSNI report.
The Belfast City area had the most recorded motoring offences from October 31, 2023 to November 1, 2024 according to a recent police report, with 7,247 taking place during that time, which was a significant decrease on the year before when 8,700 took place.
Despite the high levels of recorded offences in Belfast, the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon area had the highest rate of offences per population with 297 per 10,000. This was followed by the Derry City and Strabane area with 282 and Belfast with 257.

In 2023/24 saw a large reduction in the number of motoring offences across Northern Ireland with 34,758 taking place, a 17% reduction on the year before when there was 41,767. Only one type of motoring offence increased last year, breach of signs and signals, with 16 more detections than the year before.
Driving without insurance was the motoring offence recorded the most by police with 5,875, followed by speeding with 4,840.
The highest speed recorded on Northern Ireland roads was 149mph on the M2 Foreshore in Belfast.
Men were found to commit around 80% of all motoring offences while the age group that committed the most offences were those aged 30-49, with 14,936, followed by those aged 18-29 with 12,960.
