TIMING: Cold front causing active weather out west approaches Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fl – A potent cold front out to west is expected to arrive in Central Florida. Before it arrives, expect scattered clouds and daytime highs above average warming into the middle 80s. Winds are expected to remain calm before that frontal boundary moves in.

There is a severe weather risk for the area. A level 1 ‘Marginal Risk’ for counties northwest of I-4 where a few thunderstorms could get strong to severe.

Storm impacts include damaging wind gusts between 40-50 mph with strong wind gusts possible, heavy rain leading to minor flooding and frequent lightning. The lowest threats include small hail and can’t rule out an isolated tornado.

Thunderstorms are expected to move in after 5 p.m. Sunday. Strong winds and pockets of heavy rain likely ahead and along that cold front lasting into tonight.

That cold front is expected to exit the area after midnight pulling in colder and drier air behind it. It’ll be a chilly start Monday morning with daytime highs climbing into the lower to middle 60s across the area.
