TWIN FALLS (KMVT) – A husband and father of three was shot dead in his own driveway in Twin Falls after trying to confront a stranger.

According to KMVT, 32-year-old Fred Rodriguez heard a noise outside his home around 2 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16. As many would, he went out to investigate.

When police arrived, they discovered Rodriguez had been shot while confronting the suspect.

According to a Facebook post from the Twin Falls Police Department, the suspect fled the scene after shooting Rodriguez, getting in a white ruck and speeding away.

Officers responded and provided first-aid, but Rodriguez died shortly after.

On Nov. 17, Mi’Quavis Dewayne Taylor, 18, was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail in relation to the shooting.

The Twin Falls Police Department announced on Monday that charges had officially been filed against two suspects.

Taylor was charged with murder in the first degree, three counts of burglary, six counts of grand theft, two counts of grand theft by possession of stolen property and attempted grand theft, and booked on a bond of $1 million.

Later that day, a second suspect was arrested, 18-year-old Kaden James Thomson.

Thomson was charged with murder in the first degree, three counts of burglary, five counts of grand theft, grand theft by possession of stolen property, and attempted grand theft.

A GoFundMe was created to help assist Rodriguez’s family with funeral and living expenses. According to the fundraiser, all proceeds will go directly to the family.

According to the GoFundMe, Rodriguez was “the sole provider for his traditional family. He was an extremely hard worker with great family values,” Amanda W wrote on GoFundMe. “Freddy leaves behind a beautiful wife and three amazing children.”
