WaPo Chief Will Lewis’ New Editor ‘Decides’ Not to Join

The man who was supposed to become the new editor of The Washington Post has apparently “decided” that maybe it’s not such a great idea after all.

It’s unclear if this is a fresh headache for the paper’s embattled CEO and Publisher Will Lewis, or part of an operation to stem the tide of vitriol headed his way.

Rob Winnett, whose appointment to the top job led to a firestorm of controversy, now looks set to remain at the British Daily Telegraph, where he’s a deputy editor. “I’m pleased to report that Rob Winnett has decided to stay with us,” Chris Evans, the editor of the Telegraph, told the newsroom in an email Friday.
