You have to see this! Bear comes face-to-face with 7-year-old boy riding his scooter

TOO CLOSE — A 7-year-old boy has made headlines across the world after a black bear suddenly approached him near his home in British Columbia, Canada.

The heart stopping moment was captured on a Nest camera and the footage was shared by Inside Edition on Oct. 22, 2023. It’s already been viewed over 8 million times and was the No. 2 trending video on Youtube as of Monday afternoon.

The video shows Huxley Hardy Penner outside on his scooter as a bear crosses the street and makes its way over to him. Penner appears to remain calm as he stares the animal in the face until the bear, only feet away, stops moving towards him.

“No one could predict what would happen next,” the news outlet said.

Then, out of nowhere, one of Penner’s neighbors appears. He is seen walking towards the animal with his arms raised high. The bear tries to hide behind a parked car but the neighbor doesn’t give up on trying to get the animal away from the houses. Finally, the animal “gets spooked” and runs away.

“We’ve had conversations about being aware, being aware of your surroundings (and) if there is a bear and you’re not with an adult, be calm,” Penner’s mom explained.

She added, “I think most adults even in that moment would have perhaps panicked or run away. Not everybody knows what to do so I’m super proud of him.”
