Hyundai Mobis has developed a movable sound system, which synchronizes to the movement of a rollable in-vehicle display, which the auto parts maker touted will drive innovation in automotive interior design, the company said Wednesday.
The system follows the movement of the display in the driver’s seat. Two years ago, Hyundai Mobis developed the world’s first rollable display, which moves up and down, featuring a 30-inch screen.
When the display is operational, the speakers can be set up on the right, left and center of the vehicle’s front interior and their angle can be adjusted to minimize interference from surrounding sound waves.
When the vehicle is idle or in autonomous mode, the rollable display expands to its maximum size, allowing drivers and passengers to enjoy music and videos. At this point, the sound system reclines and directs sound toward the vehicle’s windshield to prevent any sound interference caused by the display.
The display also expands to only one-third of its original size while driving to ensure that the driver’s view is not obstructed. The speaker’s position is also adjusted based on the display’s dimensions to deliver more vivid sound quality to the driver and passengers, according to Hyundai Mobis.
“Hyundai Mobis has developed this innovative display-synchronized movable sound system as the latest automotive interior design, pursuing a large screen, high resolution and slim profile,” an official from the company said.
