LG CNS has formed a partnership with Cohere, a unicorn company in artificial intelligence, to develop agentic AI service, the information technology service firm said Monday.
According to LG CNS, the two companies will jointly develop agentic AI services tailored for Korean companies. Unlike AI agents, which refer to AI software that can make decisions within a predefined range and order, agentic AI is a greater framework that allows AI agents to work together across ranges through autonomous planning, execution and evaluation.
Cohere is a Canada-based AI unicorn company founded in 2019 by former Google AI researchers. The company’s portfolio includes data security AI models and solutions for businesses. It also has a track record of securing large-scale investments from global tech firms including Nvidia, Oracle and Cisco. Cohere is currently valued at about $5.5 billion, far surpassing the $1 billion standard for a unicorn company.
Under the partnership, LG CNS will customize Cohere’s agentic AI solution, North, for Korean companies. North includes AI agents capable of key business functions such as human resources, finance and customer support, along with various large-language models (LLMs), aimed at assisting businesses to create the AI services they need.
LG CNS plans to fine-tune Cohere's LLM to jointly develop agent models specialized in Korean language and finance. It also plans to explore opportunities in entering the global agentic AI market in the future.
“At a time when agentic AI has not yet been widely adopted in Korea, LG CNS will lead the market alongside Cohere through this exclusive partnership,” an LG CNS official said.
