Samsung SDI pledged at its annual supplier commendation event on Wednesday to pursue shared growth with its partners to become "a global top-tier company" by 2030, the battery maker said Thursday.
Samsung SDI said it held the 2024 Shared Growth Day at DoubleTree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo Hotel in Gyeonggi Province, bringing together its partners to showcase the results of shared growth initiatives and reaffirm its commitment to win-win growth.
Over 200 attendees, including Samsung SDI President Choi Yoon-ho and the CEOs of partner companies, gathered at this year's event to celebrate their collaboration.
During the event, the company shared the best innovation model among partner firms and announced Samsung SDI's shared growth plan for next year.
Ten partner firms won the Best Partner Awards for their contributions to improving quality, developing technological capabilities and stabilizing the supply chain. The event also featured an exhibition of the partner firms' best products and Samsung SDI's flagship products.
"Thanks to innovation and cooperation from our partners, Samsung SDI could complete next-generation technologies including the all-solid-state battery; and expand its foundation for growth by securing customers including GM and Hyundai Motor, despite the challenging business environment," Choi said.
"Through innovations, we will secure top-class technology and competitiveness, which will turn a crisis into a new opportunity and propel us to become a global top-tier company in 2030 together with our partners."
Choi emphasized that upgrading development capabilities, ensuring product quality and securing cost competitiveness are the keys to future growth, as well as urging partner companies to engage in environmental, social and governance, or ESG, management activities.
The Shared Growth Day was first held in 2000 to share innovation cases between Samsung SDI and its partners to pursue sustainable development and mutual growth. Under this initiative, the company has been holding a number of mutual growth programs since 2010, providing support to its partners by funding them and dispatching experts.
This year, Samsung SDI received the top rating in the Shared Growth Index evaluation for the second consecutive year, selected by the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership.
