Woojin Industrial Systems has inked a series of deals for producing train cars over the past two months.
According to the domestic railway vehicle and electric bus maker, Tuesday, it has secured three major deals within the last couple months.
It signed a deal with the Busan Transportation Corp. to produce 168 train cars last month. Shortly after, Woojin also clinched an order for 108 cars from KORAIL. The company also agreed to produce 220 cars for Seoul Metro, Monday.
Woojin is also boosting its presence in the overseas market.
In May, the company was selected as a maintenance contractor for the A650 Heavy Rail Vehicle Refurbishment Program for the LA Metro.
The company was also selected as a preferred bidder for the Inglewood Transit Connector project in Los Angeles, Calif., last August. The total project is estimated to be worth around 2.7 trillion won ($2 billion). Of that, Woojin's order is expected to be around $300 million.
Woojin introduced Korea's first rubber-tire unmanned light rail system. The system is currently in operation for Busan Metro Line 4, Seoul's Sillim Line and the Incheon International Airport Shuttle Train. It also supplied the system to the Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia.
