Korean singer DJ Koo publicly mourned his wife, Taiwanese actor Barbie Hsu, during her funeral held in Taiwan on Saturday.

According to Taiwan’s Next Apple News, Koo led the service, accompanied by Hsu’s two children, her mother and other family members. A video released by the outlet showed Koo dressed in a black suit, carrying a box with Hsu’s ashes before arriving at an outdoor memorial park for the burial. Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun-yup, looked visibly grief-stricken.

The funeral in Taiwan took place nearly 40 days after Hsu suddenly passed away in Japan. Her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, did not attend the service, the news outlet reported.

Hsu, best known for her role in the Taiwanese show "Meteor Garden," and Koo, a former member of the dance duo Clon, first met in 1998 and had a romantic relationship but did not marry until 2022. Hsu married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had two children before they divorced in 2021.

The two's unexpected reunion and subsequent marriage attracted significant public attention in Korea.

On Feb. 2, Hsu died of acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan with Koo and family members. She was cremated in Japan, and Koo transported her ashes back to Taiwan. However, the funeral was delayed as her family searched for a suitable burial site.

News of her passing triggered an outpouring of condolences from Taiwanese and Chinese fans on social media. Many also criticized her ex-husband, alleging he had been abusive during their marriage.
