The Department for Registration of Persons has resumed its public services, including the one-day National Identity Card (NIC) issuance service, following a temporary suspension.
The services had been halted due to a sudden failure in the department’s computer system, which disrupted operations related to ID processing.
Acting Commissioner General M.S.P. Sooriyapperuma stated that all public services have now been restored and are functioning as usual from this morning.
The department assured the public that normal operations have resumed, allowing applicants to once again access expedited ID services without interruption.
